Review by hotel critic
Stepping into Minshuku Kamagari felt like entering a time capsule of Japanese tradition and charm. Located in a quaint village on a peaceful island, this old ryokan exudes a nostalgic aura that transports you back in time. Waking up to the splendid view of the bay was nothing short of magnificent, a true retreat from the bustling city life. The lack of modern luxuries was a blessing in disguise, offering a genuine escape from the ordinary. We were the only guests that night, relishing the spaciousness and tranquility of the surroundings. Despite the remote location, the warm hospitality of the owner made our stay exceptional, ensuring our comfort and enjoyment throughout. The shared kitchen facilities allowed us to prepare simple meals, while the provision of basic groceries on-site was a thoughtful touch. As there were no nearby dining options, this service proved essential for a cozy night in. The proximity to the waterfront provided a magical setting to unwind, gazing at the starlit sky and listening to the soothing sounds of the sea.In terms of activities, fishing enthusiasts will find delight in the offerings around Kure, adding a touch of adventure to the serene atmosphere. With safety features like fire extinguishers and first aid kits in place, we felt secure and well taken care of during our stay. Minshuku Kamagari may lack modern amenities, but its rustic allure and personalized service make it a hidden gem worth exploring for those seeking a genuine Japanese experience.
